  1. Raining heavy today in the Copper River, if you go fishing wear Rain gear. Rainbows have been biting in local stocked lakes on one of my fly patterns, the snowshoe fly, One of my customers found that rainbows are feeding on tiny black beetles so I tied up some beetle patterns to try. I will let you know how they work out…..Ole Grizz aka Sourdough Joe

  2. Rainbow Fishing was good west of Glennallen , Alaska today. Call me at 1-816-316-0645 and I will tell you where I went. My fishing buddy , John asked me to tie up some leech flies and some charcoal caddis flies. I came up with a simple to tie leech fly in black( Joe’s Leech) and a new caddis pattern using the feathers from a Grouse leg(Joe’s caddis) I will post a picture soon. It didn’t float so good so I am tieing a Caddis using Dear hair and a Pheasant neck feather for the wings……I am going to try brown, gray and Olive to take out in the Morning. Needless to say I caught fish, I have witnesses who ate trout for dinner, Tight Lines……I can tie up about any ole fly you want just call me, Ole Grizz, aka Sourdough Joe

  3. Rainbows were taking flies and bait up to 2 days ago on stocked lakes west of Glennallen, ak. The Gulkana river is still high and muddy , but grayling are taking dry cahills with gray wings, try a black snowshoe fly or a black beadhead stonefly nymph…..winter is coming , but the rainbows were biting in a blizzard last Sat., OLE GRIZZ
